What does the petition involve?
We are asking cricket fans across the world to sign the petition so that we can show, through numeric support, IOC and ICC that there is a desire and demand to see cricket being played at the Olympic Games.
Will you be launching any advertising to support the campaign?
Currently there is no financial backing for this campaign – it is being conducted entirely by word of mouth (and word of mouse!).
Why is Murad launching a cricket petition?
Murad is a member of MCC, a committed cricket fan and a sports fan. He sees the unique opportunity provided by London hosting the Olympic Games in 2012 for cricket to showcase itself to a much wider global audience and, coincidentally, for cricket to draw in interest from nations that don’t have the same traditional involvement, participation and interest in the Olympics – delivering a benefit for both movements.
How many people do you expect to sign up?
We are hoping for cricket fans around the world to sign the petition and add the combine weight of all their voices to this lobbying effort.
